ideas, Resources, Research and Skills
My idea
For Met Connect I want to write articles and I also want to have a podcast or radio show. The main subject would be covid because that is the biggest thing that is to happen in our lives.
I will add to this list of ideas as the year goes on but for now I have 3.
Idea 1:
How has our mental health been affected due to lockdown and covid?
The people:
-
I will talk to the first and second years in my courses because they are the closest people to me. I will ask other students too because I want to have a wide range of people.
-
I will also ask young people outside of the college too.
The research:
-
Make sure that my sources are upto date.
-
I need to look at similar articles to see what angle they were taking so maybe I could try a different one. It will also help to see how they laid out the writing.
-
Also look at how people began the articles and ended them.
The resources:
-
Voice recorder
-
A computer
-
My notes that I have made
-
People that are willing to share ( either with names in the article or not)
Idea 2:
How has covid affected young people compared to 30/40 year olds.
The people:
-
Again I will use my classmates and the other teenages around me at college because they will have an opinion about the subject.
-
I will also use my dad and his friends because they are all in the 30/40 range.
-
I can also use the teachers from college because again they might have a different opinion on their experience to other 30/40 year olds.
The Research:
-
Again looking at similar articles because particularly I want to see a different type of writing. Because of the type of writing it is ( Comparison) I want to see how they have laid it out.

The resources:
-
A computer
-
Notepad
-
Voice recorder
-
People to talk to
-
The notes and voice recordings I have got
Idea 3:
I want to do a podcast series talking to students about what they want to do in the future.
The people:
-
Students from college
-
Music (mainly)
-
Photography
-
Fashion
-
Art
The research:
-
I will listen to a few different types of podcasts
-
Look for some questions to ask in the podcast
-
Find out who would want to be involved
-
What name i would give the podcast
The resources:
-
A computer
-
Voice recording equipment
-
Questions to ask
-
People willing to take part
-
Editing programs
Skills :
The reason i am doing this as an overall is because most of the skill are going to be used in all of the ideas.
Organization
-
Organized note taking
-
Making a plan of who i am talking to and when
Time Management
-
Making sure things are ready when they need to be
-
Getting to meetings on time
Writing an article
-
I might have to google some pointers to help me write the articles to the best of my ability
Editing
-
Editing the podcast on logic
-
And if i make any videos
So for my first post on the site I am going to write an article about the difference between the experiences that teenagers had to covid compared to what 30/40 years had.
The research I am doing for it is that I am going to do 7 face to face interviews and three questionnaire for the beginning. I will then look at the answers and start to make comparisons between the two ages as well as the differences.

the people I have asked( if names are in green they have agreed to take part):
my dad - carpenter
my godmother - NHS worker
Morgan - student
Daisie - student
Ellie - student
Jena - student
Harry - uni student
Lucy - mother/ police officer- on leave
Cathrine - mother/ parish clerk

under this in my questionnaire:

Idea 2 - podcast
this idea is a podcast talking to students about their futures. This will include talking about their goals and dreams. i also want to talk to them about their hobbies and their music taste and their favourite song to play in the podcast.

The first bit of research i need to do is to see if i can play music from outside the college.
the first person i asked about this was my tutor and he said that if you were to put the podcast on mixcloud then yes you can but if you were to put the podcast on Spotify you couldn't do it. I know that this is what my tutor said but I am also going to do some more research in to this to get a bit more detail on this.
another thing I have to do some research on is listening to different podcasts and chose what kind of persona I want to be on the podcast. I also want to look at different genres of podcast that I could do.
Then I need to look for people to take part in the podcast. my class will happily take part but I also want to expand the people that I talk to so that I can have more contacts in the future as well as brodning my podcast range.

He has a great intro to his podcast. The episode I listened to was when he was talking to Lukas Graham. It's nice to listen to the artist he is about to talk to. ( Lukas played live and then talked to Zach) he goes into some detail about their life’s. It's good for me to hear about how they made the song. They talked about the artist's journey to get from their start to the interview. The conversation flows so nicely and it doesn't seem forced. They are talking about the reason they are them for example the fact that you can’t change who you are so you just have to work at it. They go on little tangents and get off topic because of things that happen while you are talking.

-
People they have talked about:
-

-

-
So in the episode I listened to they talked about pop in 2014. They really get into the issues with race and white supremacy in Hip-hop and rap. They talk about Macklemore and iggy. They talk about the grammys, and how macklemore took a few awards home. They also talk about girl power and they mention frozen. They do go into more detail about the film and then talk about the singer Idian Menzel. They bring in different genres, for example indie rock. They have good conversations about feminism and the 90s idea of feminism in indie rock bands. I think for me the fact that they don't stick to talking about one genre. I also like that they show their strong opinions and are not afraid to talk about them.

-
For me I really don’t like this show because they take very very loved albums by a lot of people and slate them but not just the album but the person who makes them. I think a lot of people would like this because different people have different opinions. I do like the fact they have a catchy theme turn.
